Self-Care Plan
It’s easy to get pulled into many different directions when helping a person in need and managing your own life. While the person you’re supporting requires a safety plan, you also need a plan in place to recognize when your own support is necessary.
Self-Care Plan
noun | self care plan | \ ‘self ‘ker ‘plan \
A plan to help suicide caregivers identify coping strategies and supports they can reach out to when they are struggling
Use the template below to develop your own self-care plan! This was adapted from the safety plan templated discussed in our Support Their Safety module.
Remember, airplane passengers are told how important it is to put the oxygen mask on for themselves before assisting others during an emergency. Taking care of yourself is the first step in providing care for the person in need. Give yourself permission to put your own needs first.
