Understand Your Caregiver Role
Changes & Grief
As a suicide caregiver, you may think grief is not part of your experience. Grief is often times linked to death and death is something you are actively supporting against. Let's take a closer look.
Grief
noun | grief | \ ’grēf \
Experience of deep sorrow due to drastic changes and losses in life
Based on this definition, does grief feel relevant to your current experiences?
There are many things in life you can’t control but you can take charge of how you react. It’s okay to grieve changes and losses as they come. Talking about the grief you experience as a suicide caregiver with someone you trust can also be therapeutic. While processing these emotions will not alter the outcome, it leads to acceptance of our limitations and helps us move forward.
